Producer. Director. Sideshow 149 - Sitcom Game Shows Cross Overs Part 1

The thing Joe loves MOST on this planet (sure sure wife and kids …) Old Game Shows and the thing Jacques loves MOST on this planet (comment censored) … old Sitcoms.

 

So when recently watching an episode of The Golden Girls … in which Dorothy ties out for Jeopardy (yes the great Alex Trebek AND Merv Griffen are on this episode) this send the boys down a rabbit hole which resulted in Joe’s Plex becoming a cornucopia of (mostly) sitcom’s in which one of the characters wound up on a REAL game show.

 

Starting with The Jackie Gleason Show in which the entire episode was a “Honeymooners” sketch where Ralph and Alice go on “Beat The Clock”

 

We have a hat trick of different sitcom’s crossing over with The Gong Show.

 

There are 8 billion people on this planet and 9 billion podcast … but only ONE which brings you a beat by beat breakdown of the  October 3, 1986  magical cross over of the sitcom 227 and Wheel Of Fortune!

 

Yes, I DID say this is part 1 or … how many … let’s just say MORE then 2.  You’re welcome ‘Merica.

CPP Ep. 272 - In Jacques We Trust

Jacques takes a well-deserved break from helping an elderly woman get their house in order on the other side of the country to tell Joe and Biff all about the grueling--yet fulfulling (?)--ordeal in great detail. TL;DR: Set up your family trust TODAY!

Plus: Biff is watching anime and the Stanley Cup Final, and Joe is watching episodes of the 1980s game show "Scrabble" and his life slip away. Jacques also brings up a classic episode of "The Golden Girls" where Dorothy dreams of going on "Jeopardy!" and Joe is finally listening to what Jacques has to say on the podcast!

CPP Ep. 271 - Carnival Personnel 8th Anniversary Spectacular!

Just kidding, it's not spectacular in the least.

Enjoy another regular old episode of Jacques, Joe and Biff talking about standup comedy, NHL hockey and TV watching. Oh, and Jacques does a very good deed for someone on the end of the country... the better end, some might say. Not to be confused with the "bitter end", to which is what we encourage you to listen to this whole episode.

And, you're welcome, no opening or closing music. Joe took over the "editing" for this one, and he don't got a lotta time for caring about production. No, sir, he has to devote what little free time he has to spending time with his friends (old game show episodes) and family (comments section on retro video game YouTube videos).

CPP Sideshow 148 - Luckiest Man In America Recap

Joe and Jacques (and shockingly, more Joe then Jacques) talk the new movie based on the infamous 1984 episode of Press Your Luck where an Ice Cream truck driver from Ohio won over 100k in one day.

 

Was he cheating? Was it an inside job? Was it dumb luck?  Is this guy who he says he is?

 

We had fun talking what the movie got right and what (admittedly) they took “artistic licensing with”.

 

40 years in the making and the movie and stars Paul Walter Hauser and Walton Goggins do not disappoint.

CPP Sideshow 147 - Jeremy Shipp of Winding Path Movies

Jeremy Shipp is a writer (no, like really a writer … like people pay him to write stuff after lawyers and agents and studios agree that HE is a guy you want to pay to write for you …) he’s also one of our favorite social media content creators who has a passion for films and Hollywood that is infectious.

 

Jeremy loves talking movies and writing so much … he talked to us!  Well … Jacques did most of the talking but Jeremy, when he did get to talk, truly is one of the best guest we’ve ever had (or ever will!)

 

Currently writing on an animated pre-school shows, he’s also written and directed a few award-winning horror shorts.

 

Jeremy is by all accounts a good dad who if he goes to cool places like a theme park to shoot content, he’ll bring his kids!
