Just Joe and Jacques as Biff has “tech issues” or … better things to do (and who would blame him…)
Chat the great guest we’ve had of late and some of the next few sideshows coming up.,.
Chat the passing of legendary Carl Weathers … Apollo Creed through 2023 season 3 of the Mandalorian. Also, talk SNL original cast member - Garrett Morris getting his Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame (and Jacques insist on again telling his story of having breakfast with Morris in 2007)
Jacques kid had his heart broken and learned a great lesson … being a sports fan SUCKS and never get your hopes up as they (like millions) were SCAMMED by the MLS and the football powers to be who promoted for 2 months the big Messi v. Ronaldo. Jacques pulls him from school early, get his snacks ready … paid for the MLS season pass on Apple TV … only to see them both sitting this game out. BBBBOOOOOOO!!!!
But at least we all have Taylor Swift in the superbowl cause according to the right …it’s all a biden/nfl plan to help Joe win by …you know … it’s too stupid to even type … but we at CPP truly think Taylor is just a great person and we are delighted to see her success … and her boyfriend is also dreamy.
Ted the prequal to … Ted now streaming (which STARS Jacques pal, Scott Grimes as a 1993 typical … slightly racist … Boston Dad.) It’s fantastic. Joe also insist all watch the Netflix doc, “We Are The World” about the recording of that song … We Are The World. Maria Dennis – Sr. Legal Counsel and Sr. Director of Player Health And Safety for the NHLPA (yeah, THAT NHLPA) is our guest this week.
Are we bias? Yes.
Is Maria a dear friend Biff and Jacques have admired and have skated with for close to 3 decades? Yes.
So, when WE say, the contributions to woman’s hockey Maria has made since the early 80’s (on and off the ice) truly make her the shoulders every proceeding generations is standing on … that’s expected. But when writers from The Hockey News, ESPN and USA Hockey laud over her like we do … you know it’s true.
From being only 1 of 2 girls in organized checking hockey in Connecticut in the mid-70’s to Yale teammates labeling her “The Franchise” in the 80’s to being on the 1st USA Woman’s National Team in 1990 (winning Silver in Ottawa) Maria (who still plays) had an amazing playing career and since 2011 is having equally impressive and important career as a hockey executive.
Maria and the NHLPA are leading the way in professional sports with the first of its kind program: First Line. A player driven mental health program that strives to teach players about topics such as depression, anxiety, substance use and self-harm. To hear the pride and passion in Maria’s voice talking about this program lets you know as great a player and lawyer she is … she’s even a better person.
We’re calling this PART ONE as we’d love Maria to come back on soon and maybe with her mom and dad who were way ahead of the curve on inclusion and diversity in hockey and in life.

The only thing sadder then Joe and Jacques going out of their way to schedule watching the 1976 made for TV movie “Boy In The Plastic Bubble” together … is them talking abou it on the podcast! But at least they mix it up with a breakdown of the 1978 Battle Of The Network Stars.
Jacques 13-yr-old futbol fanatic who has NOT been the biggest supporter of woman’s futbol saw the light … thanks to EA’s FIFA game he loves as they added current woman players and icons (like Mia Hamm) and now he’s seen the light!!!!

We end a really good year of the podcast by looking back at a few things that went right in our lives this year… and a look ahead of to fun stuff we hope happens.
Biff – Successful year of reconnections (having gone to his HS reunion in Hawaii), reconnected with old friends in Japan when he took his son on a trip to the home land (his sons first trip to the land of the rising Sun.) AND … Biff got a sweet new rescue puppy (that’s about 120lbs now) and yeah she barks a things at night but that’s her job and she super sweet! Looking ahead … another Japan trip!
Joe – Putting faces to names with Biff (the CP outing in August to Bar-Cade when Biff was intown) and ALSO meeting All Star Tommy (and his family) and go to Nicks Comedy Stop. Also, thankful to finding the new digs he and his family calls home. Joe’s trip to the Back To The Future Museum with our old sketch troop pal Steve … And … he’s NEW Plex account is nothing but joy!
Jacques – shouts outs and thanks some of the amazing guest we’ve had this year on the podcast ( ) as well as the podcast he listens to that he LOVES … (Strike Force, Complains, Open Mic, Gilbert). As well he chats and gives thanks to some of the awesome people he’s met starting back into Stand-Up comedy (names here). First time in 15 plus years Beyond Id recorded new songs. Jax also cheats the very unexpected life turn of being a dad to TWO sports kids who … were NOT sports kids but they found stuff THEY liked and wanted to try and it’s been a fun turn of events that bonded them even more.

Legendary Film Maker and … Co-Founder of Legendary Pictures, Bill Fay zooms in to chat with Joe, Biff and Jacques … who for reasons we still don’t understand has been a close friend and mentor to Jacques for 20 years!
The first two film companies Bill worked for out of college went bankrupt … and then he learned to fly a plane to be Hollywood’s man on the ground in Africa ... along the way working with folks like James Cameron for (politely putting it) eccentric film maker Rodger Corman to producing such block busters The Patriot and Independence Day with Director Roland Emmerich.
Along the way ACCIDENTLY doubling his 24-year-old selves lives saving by making a 3-day investment based on getting to see a sneak preview of Back To The Future
Bill (and partner Thomas Toll) created Legendary Pictures in 2000 with a plan for a slate of big budget (largely Superhero / Action) films … Along the way just for giggles … also produced the Hangover (well for giggles and 470m at Box office making it largest grossing rated R comedy in history.)
Bill also talks his favorite project, a small indy sci fi horror called Replicate … well favorite project Jacques was an associate producer on.
Bill did fly to see Jacques she he was living in Qatar in 2026 … and in Qatar gave college lectures and gave road map to finance minister of how too get their country on the film making map.
Bill currently is CEO of Steric Systems – a company that has developed a electronic process of smoothing liquor and spirits at distilleries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a45uEuVH6jISteric Systems has grown exponentially over last few years … which leaves very little time for the other new company Bill started with his brother … a Salmon spread they’ve made for friends and family for years … at a few pound batches at a time … now scaling up (pun intended) to 7500 lbs test with a national food chain retailer.
Bill and Jacques now have the stage show rights to the 1999 movie Happy Texas and hope to have a 6 weeks test run (maybe in Seattle) next fall. To be clear … BILL has the rights, Jacques just loves the movie and wants to work on the play!

Wayne and Anthony – The host of one of our favorite podcast Open Mic Pain zoom in to talk with Joe and Jacques about how to properly run a focused podcast with a point!
Jacques met Wayne and Anthony on the comic open mic circuit and over last 8 months have become good pals. It was fun a month ago when they met Joe for first time but already felt like friends who knew each other from listening to each others podcast (sad really.)
Super fun chat about Wayne and Anthony’s friendship, their path into comedy and how their podcast came about. How their comedy is evolving (as well as their podcast) and what their hopes in comedy are.
It’s such a different chat with comics with younger kids and the extra work that takes to make getting to Mics happen (especially for Anthony who lives in Maine but mostly does mics in NH and MA with Wayne.)
We also chat what some of Jacques’ favorite episodes of OMP have been … and tells them how Steve Martin NOT being on their favorite stand-up comics list is criminal!
