Happy Tax Day – To those who pay them!
Joe and Jacques flying solo, they chat this past weeks Eclipses, Joe’s kids being 1 of the 12 Angry Men in the high school play, and semi legit parenting tips (what? Asshole OJ Simpsons dies (of Asshole cancer … as rare “W” for cancer).
We chat seeing last two sideshow guest, Legendary Tony V and the very funny very busy producer, Dave Rattigan at a wanna-be Knights Of (not that) Columbus function hall on a beat up dead end industrial road in Arlington … and that show was awesome.
Jacques weekly 1v1 beatings from comedy mentor Mike Koutrobis continue and Jacques opened another Mike show with headline and at this point, legit pal, Steve Bjork.

Dave Rattigan, headlining comedian and one of the regions busiest comedy show producers - jumped into the world of stand up a little later than most but quickly made up for lost time. Starting with a gift for comedy classes from (his then wife) and being a teacher of public speaking, Dave quickly climbed the ladder. We chat with Dave about (of course) his Dick Doherty stories (and YES, somewhere in his house he DOES have Dick Bucks!) How Dave grew as a comic and how his comedy navigated covid (parking lot comedy baby!) Through his company Scamps Comedy, Dave runs well over 200 shows a year all over New England while still carving out time to write new material. Jacques spent 6 days – working the Boston Comedy Fest and was able to con Joe into helping a couple times … and having a blast. Hanging with Tony V a couple times, meeting Michael Gross (Dad from Family Ties) and lining up a whole bunch of amazing comics from all over to do up-coming sideshow! Biff is off the injured reserves list and back in the game … talking Baltimore Bridge and INSTANTLY debunking Jacques conspiracy theory! From losing track of days while playing cards at the infamous Ding Ho comedy club in the early 80s to being the FIRST comedian to perform at Fenway Park (opening for pal Bill Burr in 2023), comedian and actor Tony V has been a Boston Legend for over 40 years. TOMORROW March 25, 2024 at The City Winery in Boston as part of The Boston Comedy Festival, Tony will be getting his Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing all he has done and means to the City of Boston. If there was a fantasy draft of all the comic greats to come out of Boston, Tony is a first- round pick on everyone’s cards. Joe and Jacques saw Tony V and his pal Bobcat at Off Cabot a couple weeks ago and it might have been funniest show they’ve ever seen (and they see lots of shows!) As an actor, Tony’s been in features such as The Town (produced by former CP guest Bill Fay and it premiered also at Fenway) to his BFF’s Misfits and Monsters (in which Tony had a full body wax and was painted blue as is the law to play King Neptune) – Tony is also a beloved comedy teacher (just ask former guest Lauren Simms)! And yes, Tony is a Boston comic over 40 so there was lots of talk about Dick Bucks and the word “integrity”. Been quit the yuk fest last two weeks for Joe and Jacques (SADLY, Biff is on ER this week) - but the numbers of shows they’re gone to and a couple nights of watching Joe’s Plex till 3am … they might have past the legal limit of laughter allowed.
Jacques has had more “booked shows” in the last month then all last year and is hoping his 1 on 1 classes with mentor Mike Koutrobis and working with Jim McCue on HIS podcast and the Boston Comedy Festival (all next week) will lead to more spots coming up.
A week after talking to the legendary comedian/actor Tony V (sideshow drops next week), Joe and Jacques saw him at Off Cabot in Beverly MA … very nice intimate setting … oh, and Tony V’s BFF … Mr. Shakes The Clown, Bobcat Goldthwait. Arguably the best show they have ever been to together … then week later, they (along with Jacques' favorite sister) saw (friend of the podcast) Steve Bjork take his next special … AND Steve’s walk out music was Jacques’ bands latest release, Tucker (off the Trump Era EP on Spotify under Dan Cray)
Couple nites on Joe’s Plex together watching Batman (Adam West), Get Smart, Benny Hill (holds up) … MTV’s 1985 year in review, LOTS of 70's game shows … too much fun.
Where is Kate Middleton? Whiny dbags on (far right) wanna know what drugs did Sleepy Joe get from Hunter AND will we get dick picks (for the record … we hope so.) Oh and watch Our Flag Means Death and have a good cry.

Hilarious comedian, very talented actress, Composer and recently featured pianist at sold out Carnegie Hall concert – Sarah INFINI-T Takagi joins Joe, Jacques and her fellow native Japanese speaker Biff, for a really fun chat about balancing the many incredible arts she’s has made a name in!
Jacques first chatted with Infini T six months ago about doing the show … but her non-stop tour de force schedule with music, comedy, acting and an over-do trip to visit family and friends in Japan – well, we’re just psyched (and very lucky) we finally were able to get on her calendar.
Where does this gifted artist find all the time to work on these disciplines … well, giving up dating a few years ago helps!

John Tobin saw a show at Nick’s Comedy Stop in Boston in 1986 and his life has been running comedy venues ever since.
“Look at him. He’s Adorable” – John’s aunt at his first hosting gig!
Sure … Boston City Council for Boston’s 6tth District (2002-2010) and has been VP of Community Affairs at North Eastern Univ. since 2010 … but really … he’s never NOT been a key figure in the Boston comedy scene, which IS the great greatest comedy scene in the world.
Graduation Summa Cum Laude from the School Of Dick Doherty (and … AND … The Connecticut School Of Broadcasting) John learned how to run shows, treat people and maybe NOT pay comics using your own made up currency that they can then mimeograph! (Long live the 3 Dollar Dick Bucks)
From Boston legend Don Gavin to International rock star comic Bill Burr … If you told a joke in Boston in the last 35+ years, you told it at a club or show that John was producing.
A co-founder of the Boston Comedy Festival in 2000 to the new Boston Comedy Awards he started this year, John never stops creating new ways to help grow the scene. John takes pride and how more and more inclusive the Boston comedy scene is, showcasing more female comics, more comics who are POC and part of the LGBTQ1A+ community.
We’ve been so lucky to have some many hilarious comics on the podcast … none where funnier or hand better BTS comedy stories then John.
